Letter from Sheena - 2000
Well, here I am in Las Vegas. As some of you may know, I am performing with David Cassidy in "At The Copa" at the RIO hotel. It is very exciting being part of a brand new production. David plays Johnny Flamingo and I play Ruby Bombay in a show that allows us to perform not only some of our own hits, but also some standards. It is like being on Broadway again, with that same old feeling of being part of a team. I had been considering going back to Broadway but was a little reluctant to uproot the family and move to New York for a year. Las Vegas is not only a wonderful place to work but it is so close to L.A. that we can go home and visit often and the kids don't feel that I've moved them too far from all the people and places they love. Speaking of my babies! They are so big now! I can't believe how fast the time goes. Jake starts "big school" in August and Skylar can't wait til it's her turn. They both keep me on my toes with impossible to answer questions, can outrun me, outtalk me and definitely beat me at any sport. Jake has been trying to teach me how to play video games as he figures that is more my speed, but doesn't think I practice enough as his baby sister is a tougher opponent. I don't know if any of you saw my first appearance on Q.V.C. in January (the next one is slated for May) with my Angel and Fairy dolls and figurines. If you did, then you will have seen some tangible results of the love that my babies have brought to my life. It was a four year project, but thanks to the Seymour Mann Company and their belief in my ideas, I finally have an outlet for the non musical side of my creative imagination. I know a lot of you have been asking about plans for a new C.D. Well, I am starting to record the vocals in the first week of April. The tracks are being recorded and mixed in London and I am doing vocals here so that I can continue to do my shows in the evenings. It is a real feel good party sound! I know there is probably some new hip musical jargon that I am supposed to use when I describe it but I proudly call it Disco! It is a combination of new and familiar songs that make me happy and if I could dance I would put a mirror ball in my bedroom and let the games begin! It is slated for a late summer world wide release so we will keep you posted with release schedules, producer info, etc. when we have it. (By the way look out for a compilation of ballads that is being released this spring in Japan). As you can see the year 00 is a busy one for me. I am often asked what I like to do best as I have done so many different things in my life and career. I had the feeling that turning 40 would be a good time in my life, and so far it has been amazing. I have been given so many opportunities to challenge and express myself this year, and guess what, I'm going for it..... that's what I like to do best. As I finish this letter to you, before I head off to the theatre, the demos for my new C.D. are playing in the background, my son is standing on his head next to my computer and my daughter is playing with the dogs on the patio.......... It has been a good day! I hope you are all well and happy and as always I look forward to your e-mails and letters.
